Mrs. Lieb in need of your extra school supplies.

Parents and Students:  Clean out those desks!  The school year is ending for us but summer classes are beginning for school children in a little village in India.

Our very own Ms. Lieb, 3rd grade teacher at Chatham, will be visiting a small village school in India to teach for a few weeks.  The school has only about 100 students grades 1-5 in a one-room schoolhouse.  The people in the village endure extreme poverty and the school has very limited supplies.

Ms. Lieb is planning to bring as many supplies as she can stuff in her bags.   She’s been quietly asking the Chatham Park staff if they would like to donate any amount of SMALL school supplies (pencils, pens, stickers…).   She has not asked HASA or the parents for help, but school counselor Ms. Mallam wrote to HASA on Ms. Lieb’s behalf.

Do you have any extra new or gently used pencils, pens, stickers, erasers, (anything small) that Ms. Lieb can take with her to India?  Let’s share some of those little supplies that just float around for us, but would be invaluable for a little child eager to learn.

There is a box outside of Ms. Lieb’s room.  Please look around tonight and bring the supplies in on Monday or Tuesday.  Let’s send Ms. Lieb off with a care package to be proud of!

policedog1Upper Darby Police Officer Thomas Hald and K-9 Officer Rex visited the 5th-grade Service Club to accept a donation of $200, which the club raised with bake sales to help support Rex.
They saw first hand how Rex – who is trained in explosives, tracking people and building searches – could find a container with explosive material among all of their backpacks. Rex demonstrated his strength and ability to take down a perpetrator.
Officer Hald thanked the children. Rex and other K-9 officers require a lot of money for training and care.policedog2
The Service Club thanks everyone who bought items at the bake sale. If it weren’t for your help, the service club would not have been able to make the donation.

Renew Do-Not-Call Registration

It’s time to renew your phone-number registration on Pennsyvania’s Do Not Call List.

In 2002, Pennsylvanians were first given the opportunity to avoid these calls by registering for the Do Not Call list. But registration on the Do Not Call list is only valid for five years. You must re-register. To be sure that your home and cellular telephone numbers stay on the list, re-registering. Go to http://www.attorneygeneral.gov/dnc.aspx

The process is quick and easy. Use the links at the top of this page to enroll your telephone numbers, verify your enrollment, review details about the Do Not Call law or file a complaint if you have been receiving calls in violation of the law.
