Parents and Students: Clean out those desks! The school year is ending for us but summer classes are beginning for school children in a little village in India.
Our very own Ms. Lieb, 3rd grade teacher at Chatham, will be visiting a small village school in India to teach for a few weeks. The school has only about 100 students grades 1-5 in a one-room schoolhouse. The people in the village endure extreme poverty and the school has very limited supplies.
Ms. Lieb is planning to bring as many supplies as she can stuff in her bags. She’s been quietly asking the Chatham Park staff if they would like to donate any amount of SMALL school supplies (pencils, pens, stickers…). She has not asked HASA or the parents for help, but school counselor Ms. Mallam wrote to HASA on Ms. Lieb’s behalf.
Do you have any extra new or gently used pencils, pens, stickers, erasers, (anything small) that Ms. Lieb can take with her to India? Let’s share some of those little supplies that just float around for us, but would be invaluable for a little child eager to learn.
There is a box outside of Ms. Lieb’s room. Please look around tonight and bring the supplies in on Monday or Tuesday. Let’s send Ms. Lieb off with a care package to be proud of!
