HASA Meeting

Please join us this Wednesday February 6th 7pm in the library for the HASA meeting. We will be discussing and voting on the funding of new playground equipment for the school. We will also be discussing the various events sponsored and funded by HASA! Hope to see you there!

3rd Grade Service Club – February Project
We will be making cat and dog toys to take to Providence Animal Center.  Please sign up your child to make either dog toys (Feb 8) or cat toys (Feb 14). Signing up allows up to prepare supplies.  These projects need table space, so we need to split the kids up and not have 40 kids on the same day!
The trip to Providence Animal Center will be on Feb. 21. Sign up for that coming soon.
Questions? M Haskell – marykristin12@gmail.com

BOX TOPS- February Collection

ALL BoxTops are due BY 2/20, and will be collected from homerooms by then, so please send in over next couple weeks.   Together we raised over $400 in October. All earnings will go toward recess/playground equipment. Thank you for clipping!

Yearbook Orders Due March 15th

Order forms for the 5th grade yearbook should have gone home with all 5th graders earlier this month.  If you do not have a form, you can access it  here: 5th Grade Yearbook order form(1). Please turn the form in along with payment to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than March 15th.  Any questions, contact chathaparkyearbook2019@gmail.com.

Intra- District Council (IDC) Update:

Below is a flyer including a registration link for the PA Schools Work public meeting on school funding at the DCIU Saturday, February 2nd, 8:45 – noon.  Delaware County Unites for Education (6)

Mark your calendars for the school year 2020-2021. Haverford Township School District will have an earlier back to school start date of August 31, 2020. Due to a late Labor Day that year, in addition to the Lynnewood School construction timeline, this earlier start time was necessary. Please spread the word, so that all of our families are prepared for this change.

.

4th Grade Service Club
The next meeting of the 4th Grade Service Club will be held on Thursday January 31 from 3:30-4:30 on the auditorium stage.
We will be decorating place mats and creating cards/joke books to be delivered to residents living in the skilled nursing unit at a local retirement community.
We will also be brainstorming with the students on a  “New Year of Kindness” and New Years Resolutions on ways to show kindness in the upcoming year.
Please let us know if you have any questions!
Thanks,
Laura Freeman and Julie Myers

Open HASA Positions looking for volunteers:

Positions Open for 2019-2020 School year

Vice President of HASA

Treasurer of HASA

School Supply Coordinator: Coordinating sale and delivery of school supplies for the first day of school with 1st Day School Supply Company.  Please let us know if you are interested and we can put you in contact with this year’s chair to get details.

We also have several volunteer opportunities still open.  Please take a look and consider donating some time! :

Book Fair Shadows  –  The Book Fair is an annual event in the fall that requires coordination with Scholastic Books and the school to sell books to the children in the library, during a family night event, and online.   Traditionally it’s been a one person chair, but as the responsibilities of the book fair have increased there should be two to three people organizing this event in the future.  Please contact Beth Morales at libspy1@comcast.net if you would like to discuss.

Art Volunteers:  work with Mrs. Cohen (art teacher) to display the children’s beautiful artwork throughout Chatham Park Hallways

Fifth Grade Awards Reception: (typically 4th grade parent) Plans and coordinates a reception for 5th students and parents/guardians, immediately following the awards ceremony.  All dietary needs should be kept in consideration while planning this event. ( I.e. gluten, peanut, tree nut, red dye allergies etc.)

May Fair (shadows):  May Fair is a day when the Chatham Park community comes together for a day of packed full of fun including:  Games, food, entertainment and more! This would be a great opportunity to shadow the chairpersons! You can get the hands on experience assisting with the event while learning from those who have been running it!  Definitely a great opportunity!!!

We’re looking for one or two more individuals to help round out the group (shadows for future takeover). We’ve a group of 7-8 right now and anyone interested in party planning, non profit fundraising, marketing, etc. welcome.  Minimal fall effort with major planning to begin after Jan 1.

Running Club: (shadows) coordinates with parent coaches a program for interested students to follow to prepare them to run in the Maniac Magee.
This is a perfect time to learn from those who have been running it.
If any of these positions interest you or you would like to get more information, please contact us at
