3rd Grade Service Club

Great Big Sneaker Sort and Breakfast Bag Bonanza

All 3rd graders are welcome to join us after school on March 28. We will meet on the stage from 3:30-4:30.  We will sort and label sizes on running sneakers donated by customer of Bryn Mawr Running Company.  Feel free to send in any ADULT gently used sneakers you are ready to donate.
We will also assemble breakfast bags.
The breakfast bags and the sneakers will be taken to the Hub of Hope in Philadelphia, a walk-in engagement center located in the concourses under Two Penn Center in Suburban Station.

The Hub of Hope offers a safe place where people can enjoy a warm cup of coffee, take a shower and wash laundry, and speak to peers or case managers to begin the process of finding a permanent home. It creates even greater opportunities to connect individuals experiencing homelessness to treatment, medical care and ultimately stable, supportive housing

13th Annual Chatham Park Talent Show

Practice Dates:  February 27, March 6, March 20 from 3:30 – 5 pm at Chatham Park

The Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for Monday, March 25th at 6PM in the Haverford High School Auditorium.  Families are responsible for transportation to and from the Dress Rehearsal.  It is important that we run through dress rehearsal in the order noted in the list attached to iron out kinks and prepare for show day. Please plan accordingly for Wednesday night. If your child is ONLY participating in the 5th grade finale, then the dress rehearsal arrival time is 7PM.   Practice will start by 7:30.  5th Grade Finale attire is a red/white Chatham Park shirt, black pants (leggings or sweats), sneakers and girl’s hair up for the day of the show.

Please consider donating baked goods to be sold at the talent show intermission on March 31st! Proceeds help to pay for the lighting, tech crew, and program printing.

All food items should be individually wrapped, and we will sell them for $1 each.

Sign up to donate here:

Donations can be dropped  at 218 Kenmore the morning of the show, or brought directly to the high school at showtime

4th Grade Service Club will meet on Wednesday March 27th from 3:30-4:30 in the auditorium. We will be making casseroles to donate to Saint John’s Hospice, a shelter located in Center City Philadelphia. Donated casseroles are the main course of a complete, hot meal that they serve to hundreds of poor and homeless each day. Please see the Sign-up Genius for ingredient donations needed.

We also have several volunteer opportunities still open.  Please take a look and consider donating some time! :

Book Fair Chair and Shadows  –  The Book Fair is an annual event in the fall that requires coordination with Scholastic Books and the school to sell books to the children in the library, during a family night event, and online.   Traditionally it’s been a one person chair, but as the responsibilities of the book fair have increased there should be two to three people organizing this event in the future.  Please contact Beth Morales at if you would like to discuss.

Art Volunteers:  work with Mrs. Cohen (art teacher) to display the children’s beautiful artwork throughout Chatham Park Hallways

Fifth Grade Awards Reception: (typically 4th grade parent) Plans and coordinates a reception for 5th students and parents/guardians, immediately following the awards ceremony.  All dietary needs should be kept in consideration while planning this event. ( I.e. gluten, peanut, tree nut, red dye allergies etc.)

May Fair (shadows):  May Fair is a day when the Chatham Park community comes together for a day of packed full of fun including:  Games, food, entertainment and more! This would be a great opportunity to shadow the chairpersons! You can get the hands on experience assisting with the event while learning from those who have been running it!  Definitely a great opportunity!!!

We’re looking for one or two more individuals to help round out the group (shadows for future takeover). We’ve a group of 7-8 right now and anyone interested in party planning, non profit fundraising, marketing, etc. welcome.  Minimal fall effort with major planning to begin after Jan 1.

Running Club: (shadows) coordinates with parent coaches a program for interested students to follow to prepare them to run in the Maniac Magee.
This is a perfect time to learn from those who have been running it.
If any of these positions interest you or you would like to get more information, please contact us at
