Dear Chatham Park Elementary School Families,
As you know, Governor Wolf ordered all schools closed for the remainder of the year. This is both disappointing, but necessary, news. I miss all aspects of the school day routine, but the health and safety of our school community must always be a priority.
Since we know that we will not be returning to school this year, we are working to gather students’ personal and academic materials to have at home to aid in their various learning activities.
Student materials will be available for pick-up from 8:30am-4:30pm on Wednesday, May 13th. Students’ desks will have been cleared by teachers and staff. The students’ materials will have been bagged and labeled prior to the date of pick up. Teachers may not be available on Monday, May 11th to respond to families due to the pack up day.
We are arranging a non-contact curbside pickup in the staff/faculty parking lot. There WILL NOT be any walk-up lines as we cannot follow two protocols at once. Families will drive up along the curb and form a line and directed towards the distribution tables. Parents/guardians are asked to remain in their vehicle until they are directed to retrieve their bag(s) from the distribution table. Further details are listed below. Note: A separate date will be set for medication pickup with our school nurse. You receive separate notification in the upcoming weeks.
Pick-Up Day Instructions
Prior to your arrival, we ask that you write legibly in large print on a piece of paper your child(ren)’s first and last name and classroom teacher and place it on your passenger side car’s dash. Upon arrival to Chatham Park, parents/guardians will follow the directions for the deployment line. A school official will be there to assist. The staff member will use a radio to communicate with another staff member inside to allow the bags to be identified and retrieved.
When your car has arrived at the front of the line, the bag(s) will be placed on the distribution table by a staff member. Once the staff member has placed the bag(s) on the table and returned to the building, the bag(s) may be retrieved by a single-family member. We ask that the adult/guardian retrieves the bag(s). Note: If you have library books at home to return, there will be boxes near the distribution table to allow you to drop off the books.
If the date of May 13th does not work for you to come to Chatham Park to pick up your materials, we will work with you to find an alternative date and time.
We appreciate your support as we continue to think of how we can best support our students while they engage in flexible learning during this extended school closure.
