May Fair 2019 – This Saturday 5/18 10am-1pm
This years theme is: “Boardwalk Bash”

You don’t want to miss this one! We’ve got some old favorites but are bringing in a ton of new fun! Pie in the face, skee ball, one on one hoops, frogger, balloon blast, and more! They’ll be a photo booth, air brush tattoo artist, splash booth, and we’re being joined by Kona Ice Truck and Nothing Bundt Cakes.  All new activities to include Monkey Motion, Human Hamster Balls, 9-hole mini golf, and Fun Derby!  The Llanerch Fire Department will be there to let kids touch a truck, play tug-o-war with the firefighters, shoot the fire hose, and we’ll have a ball drop with the chance to win $500!!

Raffles and Silent Auction!  We’ve got FABULOUS silent auction items this year including a package of 15 one day Walt Disney World Park Hopper Tickets (2 year expiration; that’s enough for a family of three to have 5 days in the parks!) and a weekend SIC Shore Rental!!!  Looking to refresh a room? We’ve got a silent auction package from Sherwin Williams too!

Pre-order bracelet sales are closed but bracelets will be available for purchase at the event. Ball Drop Sales still going on and available the day of.  Everyone participating in the Human Hamster Balls must have a waiver.  If you would like to pre-fill out your waiver for the Human Hamster Balls, please visit https://wonderflywaiver.com/funfair/ Waivers will be available the day of.

School Supply Coordinator: Coordinating sale and delivery of school supplies for the first day of school with 1st Day School Supply Company.  Please let us know if you are interested and we can put you in contact with this year’s chair to get details.

Book Fair Chair and Shadows  –  The Book Fair is an annual event in the fall that requires coordination with Scholastic Books and the school to sell books to the children in the library, during a family night event, and online.   Traditionally it’s been a one person chair, but as the responsibilities of the book fair have increased there should be two to three people organizing this event in the future.  Please contact Beth Morales at libspy1@comcast.net if you would like to discuss.

Art Volunteers:  work with Mrs. Cohen (art teacher) to display the children’s beautiful artwork throughout Chatham Park Hallways

Fifth Grade Awards Reception: (typically 4th grade parent) Plans and coordinates a reception for 5th students and parents/guardians, immediately following the awards ceremony.  All dietary needs should be kept in consideration while planning this event. ( I.e. gluten, peanut, tree nut, red dye allergies etc.)

May Fair (shadows):  May Fair is a day when the Chatham Park community comes together for a day of packed full of fun including:  Games, food, entertainment and more! This would be a great opportunity to shadow the chairpersons! You can get the hands on experience assisting with the event while learning from those who have been running it!  Definitely a great opportunity!!!

We’re looking for one or two more individuals to help round out the group (shadows for future takeover). We’ve a group of 7-8 right now and anyone interested in party planning, non profit fundraising, marketing, etc. welcome.  Minimal fall effort with major planning to begin after Jan 1.

Chatham Park Boot Camp This Friday (5/10)!!
Please help us spread the word!!  All are invited from our community. The kids have been having fun and working hard over the past few weeks in their Running Clubs, and now it’s our turn.  Join us as we host a 45 minute all levels Boot Camp workout on Friday May 10th from 4:30 pm – 5:15 pm at the Chatham Glen Park.  This workout is for adults, but kids can partake or play in the park while the adults workout.  Just you and your sneakers are needed, but bring a mat or towel if you prefer.  A $10 cash donation is requested.  Pre-registration is not required, but you can find more information and sign-up on the Facebook Event located at https://www.facebook.com/events/425634418237176/  or contact abbiechowanksy@gmail.com or kristen.c.reed@gmail.com for more information.

STAFF APPRECIATION!!
  It’s that time of the year to show our gratitude to our Chatham Park staff!!  There are many ways to help!!
1.  The week of May 6th, we will be providing goodies and raffles during the week.  Please see the SignUp Genius to help!
 
2.  There will be a luncheon on May 31st (1/2 day for students).   There will be a letter coming home with the students soon with more information on the luncheon.  See SignUp for this as well.
 
3.  You may also make a monetary contribution (cash only) to be used to purchase food and other items.   Please send in your donation in an envelope marked “STAFF APPRECIATION”.   Any extra money collected will be used for raffles, snacks and other surprises for the staff.  We are also looking for volunteers to help with set up and/or clean up on Friday, May 31st.

Calling all artists!!! Time for the 21st annual Maniac Magee T-shirt Contest.

It wouldn’t be a fun run without an original T-shirt designed by a Chatham Park student.  So calling all k-5 artists. 3rd Grade Service Club
Our April meeting will be on April 24 and we will be mulching all of the new trees around the school and retying them to their posts. Please bring garden gloves if you have them.  ALL 3rd graders are welcome, whether you have attended previous meetings or not.  Pick up at 4:30 pm.  Parent volunteers needed – email M Haskell (marykristin12@gmail.com) if you can help out.
BOX TOPS!
Final Submission for the year is due in April. Please get your BoxTops in by SPRING BREAK- final collection date will be April 23. All BoxTops earnings will be used for playground equipment/upgrades. The class with the most BoxTops submitted will win a pizza party! Thank you for participating!

STAFF APPRECIATION!!
  It’s that time of the year to show our gratitude to our Chatham Park staff!!  There are many ways to help!!
1.  The week of May 6th, we will be providing goodies and raffles during the week.  Please see the SignUp Genius to help!
 
2.  There will be a luncheon on May 31st (1/2 day for students).   There will be a letter coming home with the students soon with more information on the luncheon.  See SignUp for this as well.
 
3.  You may also make a monetary contribution (cash only) to be used to purchase food and other items.   Please send in your donation in an envelope marked “STAFF APPRECIATION”.   Any extra money collected will be used for raffles, snacks and other surprises for the staff.  We are also looking for volunteers to help with set up and/or clean up on Friday, May 31st.

Join us on May 18th, 2019!  We’ve got some old favorites but are bringing in a ton of new fun! Games to include pie in the face, skee ball, one on one hoops, frogger, balloon blast, and more! They’ll be a photo booth, air brush tattoo artist, splash booth, and we’re being joined by Kona Ice Truck and Nothing Bundt Cakes.  All new activities to include Monkey Motion, Human Hamster Balls, 9-hole mini golf, and Fun Derby!  The Llanerch Fire Department will be there to let kids touch a truck, play tug-o-war with the firefighters, shoot the fire hose, and we’ll have a ball drop with the chance to win $500!!

Raffles and Silent Auction!  We’ve got FABULOUS silent auction items this year including a package of 15 one day Walt Disney World Park Hopper Tickets (2 year expiration; that’s enough for a family of three to have 5 days in the parks!) and a one week SIC Shore Rental!!!

Stay tuned for bracelet pre-sale and ball drop fundraiser information soon!  Everyone participating in the Human Hamster Balls must have a waiver.  If you would like to pre-fill out your waiver for the Human Hamster Balls, please visit https://wonderflywaiver.com/funfair/ Waivers will be available the day of.

Our April meeting will be on April 24 and we will be mulching all of the new trees around the school and retying them to their posts. Please bring garden gloves if you have them.  ALL 3rd graders are welcome, whether you have attended previous meetings or not.  Pick up at 4:30 pm.  Parent volunteers needed – email M Haskell (marykristin12@gmail.com) if you can help out.

Final Submission for the year is due in April. Please get your BoxTops in by SPRING BREAK- final collection date will be April 23. All BoxTops earnings will be used for playground equipment/upgrades. Book Fair Chair and Shadows  –  The Book Fair is an annual event in the fall that requires coordination with Scholastic Books and the school to sell books to the children in the library, during a family night event, and online.   Traditionally it’s been a one person chair, but as the responsibilities of the book fair have increased there should be two to three people organizing this event in the future.  Please contact Beth Morales at libspy1@comcast.net if you would like to discuss.

Art Volunteers:  work with Mrs. Cohen (art teacher) to display the children’s beautiful artwork throughout Chatham Park Hallways

Fifth Grade Awards Reception: (typically 4th grade parent) Plans and coordinates a reception for 5th students and parents/guardians, immediately following the awards ceremony.  All dietary needs should be kept in consideration while planning this event. ( I.e. gluten, peanut, tree nut, red dye allergies etc.)

May Fair (shadows):  May Fair is a day when the Chatham Park community comes together for a day of packed full of fun including:  Games, food, entertainment and more! This would be a great opportunity to shadow the chairpersons! You can get the hands on experience assisting with the event while learning from those who have been running it!  Definitely a great opportunity!!!

3rd Grade Service Club

Great Big Sneaker Sort and Breakfast Bag Bonanza

All 3rd graders are welcome to join us after school on March 28. We will meet on the stage from 3:30-4:30.  We will sort and label sizes on running sneakers donated by customer of Bryn Mawr Running Company.  Feel free to send in any ADULT gently used sneakers you are ready to donate.
We will also assemble breakfast bags.
The breakfast bags and the sneakers will be taken to the Hub of Hope in Philadelphia, a walk-in engagement center located in the concourses under Two Penn Center in Suburban Station.

The Hub of Hope offers a safe place where people can enjoy a warm cup of coffee, take a shower and wash laundry, and speak to peers or case managers to begin the process of finding a permanent home. It creates even greater opportunities to connect individuals experiencing homelessness to treatment, medical care and ultimately stable, supportive housing

Art Contest for Talent Show Program Cover

Calling all artists! We are looking for talented Chatham Park artists to create a custom drawing for us to use for the cover of the 13h Annual Chatham Park Talent Show program, which will take place on March 31st at Haverford High School.  To participate, please submit yourblack and white artwork in a “portrait” format to Ms. Cohan by Friday, March 22nd.  Please contact Ms. Cohan with any questions.

 

 

13th Annual Chatham Park Talent Show

Practice Dates:  February 27, March 6, March 20 from 3:30 – 5 pm at Chatham Park

 

TALENT SHOW DRESS REHEARSAL
The Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for Monday, March 25th at 6PM in the Haverford High School Auditorium.  Families are responsible for transportation to and from the Dress Rehearsal.  It is important that we run through dress rehearsal in the order noted in the list attached to iron out kinks and prepare for show day. Please plan accordingly for Wednesday night.If your child is ONLY participating in the 5th grade finale, then the dress rehearsal arrival time is 7PM.   Practice will start by 7:30.  5th Grade Finale attire is a red/white Chatham Park shirt, black pants (leggings or sweats), sneakers and girl’s hair up for the day of the show.  

 

TALENT SHOW BAKE SALE
Please consider donating baked goods to be sold at the talent show intermission on March 31st! Proceeds help to pay for the lighting, tech crew, and program printing.

All food items should be individually wrapped, and we will sell them for $1 each.

4th GRADE SERVICE CLUB
4th Grade Service Club will meet on Wednesday March 27th from 3:30-4:30 in the auditorium. We will be making casseroles to donate to Saint John’s Hospice, a shelter located in Center City Philadelphia. Donated casseroles are the main course of a complete, hot meal that they serve to hundreds of poor and homeless each day. Please see the Sign-up Genius for ingredient donations needed.

The 21st Annual Maniac Magee 2 mile run and 1 mile walk will be May 18th this year. More details to follow in the upcoming weeks about this event and fun changes to the event.  We are looking for volunteers to make this event a huge success and a shadow for Tina Shelton. CULTURAL ASSEMBLIES
At this week’s Cultural Assembly, we get to explorethe myth and magic of everyday Irish life.  This sprightly collection of stories, melodic ballads, pennywhistle tunes and jigs performed on a variety of traditional instruments is guaranteed to set your feet a-dancin’- and your heart a wishin’ on a rainbow!

Please plan accordingly for Wednesday night.If your child is ONLY participating in the 5th grade finale, then the dress rehearsal arrival time is 7PM.   Practice will start by 7:30.  5th Grade Finale attire is a red/white Chatham Park shirt, black pants (leggings or sweats), sneakers and girl’s hair up for the day of the show.

Please consider donating baked goods to be sold at the talent show intermission on March 31st! Proceeds help to pay for the lighting, tech crew, and program printing.

All food items should be individually wrapped, and we will sell them for $1 each.

4th GRADE SERVICE CLUB
4th Grade Service Club will meet on Wednesday March 27th from 3:30-4:30 in the auditorium. We will be making casseroles to donate to Saint John’s Hospice, a shelter located in Center City Philadelphia. Donated casseroles are the main course of a complete, hot meal that they serve to hundreds of poor and homeless each day. Please see the Sign-up Genius for ingredient donations needed.

 

Maniac Magee

The 21st Annual Maniac Magee 2 mile run and 1 mile walk will be May 18th this year. More details to follow in the upcoming weeks about this event and fun changes to the event.  We are looking for volunteers to make this event a huge success and a shadow for Tina Shelton. Tina helps with coordinating the event and helps with the recruitment of  sponsors for the event.  If you are interested in being a shadow for Tina Shelton or  volunteering in any capacity, please email Erin Cianciarulo at chathamparkmaniacmagee@gmail.com

Book Fair Chair and Shadows  –  The Book Fair is an annual event in the fall that requires coordination with Scholastic Books and the school to sell books to the children in the library, during a family night event, and online.   Traditionally it’s been a one person chair, but as the responsibilities of the book fair have increased there should be two to three people organizing this event in the future.  Please contact Beth Morales at libspy1@comcast.net if you would like to discuss.

Art Volunteers:  work with Mrs. Cohen (art teacher) to display the children’s beautiful artwork throughout Chatham Park Hallways

Fifth Grade Awards Reception: (typically 4th grade parent) Plans and coordinates a reception for 5th students and parents/guardians, immediately following the awards ceremony.  All dietary needs should be kept in consideration while planning this event. ( I.e. gluten, peanut, tree nut, red dye allergies etc.)

May Fair (shadows):  May Fair is a day when the Chatham Park community comes together for a day of packed full of fun including:  Games, food, entertainment and more! This would be a great opportunity to shadow the chairpersons! You can get the hands on experience assisting with the event while learning from those who have been running it!  Definitely a great opportunity!!!

We’re looking for one or two more individuals to help round out the group (shadows for future takeover). We’ve a group of 7-8 right now and anyone interested in party planning, non profit fundraising, marketing, etc. welcome.  Minimal fall effort with major planning to begin after Jan 1.

Running Club: (shadows) ​coordinates with parent coaches a program for interested students to follow to prepare them to run in the Maniac Magee.
This is a perfect time to learn from those who have been running it.
