Golden Apple

Golden Apple reading program begins 10/16/17 and runs through 4/13/18.  This is a voluntary reading challenge, look for information on the program in your child’s back pack.

 

 

 

Service Clubs

Children in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades have an opportunity to participate in our service clubs.  Chatham Park Service Club permission slip 2017-18  is necessary to participate.  Please return the permission slip to your child’s homeroom teacher or have your child bring it to the first meeting. Our volunteers who run the service clubs will contact parents of children who sign up about upcoming meetings, as well as putting something in the Chatham Chat.

 

Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest!

Don’t forget to get working on your creative pumpkins! The Pumpkin Decorating Contest for all students and families is coming up and will be held on Tuesday, Oct 31st in the cafeteria.  All participants will receive a door prize and our senior citizen volunteers will once again judge for the Great Pumpkins in each grade!   If you would like to volunteer to help out at the contest, please contact Ellen Cohen at Cressycohen@gmail.com

Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest!

Show your creativity!   We will once again hold our Pumpkin Decorating Contest for all students and families to enter!  The contest will be held on Tuesday, Oct 31st in the cafeteria.  All participants will receive a door prize and our senior citizen volunteers will once again judge for the Great Pumpkins in each grade!   If you would like to volunteer to help out at the contest, please contact Ellen Cohen at cressycohen@gmail.com

 

 

Clearances

It’s not to late to send in your clearances.  Clearances can be sent in at anytime; however allow  plenty of time for them to be processed, before you need them.

Intra-District Council (IDC)

Part of the mission of the IDC is to gather ideas, complaints and concerns from the PTO.
The IDC would like each school to pick a topic for discussion/have a guest speaker.  If there are any topics you would like to see brought up, please contact one of our representatives Kristin Kearns (kbbuf@yahoo.com)  or Irene Best (irene.best5@gmail.com).

Final Chance to be in the Directory

Final Chance to be in Directory

If you have not already done so, please log into www.atozconnect.com and verify your family’s information for the directory.  If you do not verify your information and select your child’s teacher before October 6th, your child will not be in the directory.   Instructions for how to do that can be found on our home page www.chathamparkfamilies.org.  Any information that has not been verified by October 6th will be deleted, so please take a few minutes to do this.  Any questions, contact peggyhermann@hotmail.com.

HASA Dues

If you haven’t paid your HASA dues, please do so by the end of the month.  The dues are $25 per family and go towards funding many of the fun events that HASA runs during the year.  Also, families who pay their dues will get a printed copy of the school directory.  Please send in cash or check to school with your child in an envelope marked “HASA Dues” with your child’s name and homeroom.

We have a new system for our school directory – A to Z Connect.  Everyone who wants to be in the directory needs to sign in before September 29th.  If you’re new to Chatham or were not in last year’s system, you will need to create an account.   If you were in the system last year, you will need to verify that the information that we have for you is correct.  Your information must be verified or you will not be included in the directory.  It is very important that you update your child’s information with their current teacher by September 29th.  If that is not done, your child will not be listed in the directory roster for his or her class.

Also, if you are interested in volunteering for any upcoming HASA events, you can select the appropriate mailing lists on the Parent screen in A to Z.  Links to detailed instructions on how to create an account, update your information and sign up for mailing lists are located on the homepage of HASA’s website (www.chathamparkfamilies.org).  Any questions, please contact peggyhermann@hotmail.com.

10/06/17 – Bark-A-Palooza

Bark-a-palooza is our biggest fundraiser.  There is a pep rally in school for the children and a family picnic and outdoor movie night for families on the front lawn.  The movie will be G rated, but following school tradition it will be a surprise! We are in need of volunteers to help out at the movie night: hand out popcorn, sell drinks and candy, and the all-important clean up! Back to School Nights,  9/12 and 9/14

 Doors open at 6:30.  HASA will no longer ask for $5 per child for the homeroom parties; instead dues are $25 per family, payable in cash or check. Here is this week’s information about upcoming school and HASA events.

9/6/17 – First HASA meeting

Join us in the Chatham Park school library at 7 pm.  Hear about upcoming events and ways to become involved.

9/12/17  –  Back to school night (K-2)

9/14 /17 – Back to school night  (3-5)

10/6/17 – Bark A Palooza *notice the date change*

Bark-A-Palooza is our biggest annual fundraiser.  Students raise money, and one of our classes wins the Top Dog trophy!  There’s an in school pep rally and in the evening families enjoy a night on Chatham Park’s front lawn with food, dancing and an outdoor movie!  Look for more information to come home soon.

Chatham Park Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!  We are looking forward to another great year.  Just a couple of reminders of things to do at the start of the school year!

REMEMBER TO SIGN UP FOR BULLDOG BROWSER

Register for the Bulldog Browser, our school directory – Your child will not be listed under their classroom in the Browser if you do not register. PTO manager has been replaced by a new system. Directions to register in the new system will be coming out in a separate Chatham Chat.

HASA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 HASA provides over 30 fun activities and events for our students and families – this can only happen through volunteer help.  Directions to sign up to volunteer will be coming out in a separate Chatham Chat.  Volunteers for events during the school day are now required to complete and submit security clearances to the School District (click here http://haverford.k12.pa.us//site/default.aspx?PageID=12950).

FIRST HASA MEETING

FIRST HASA MEETING, September 6th, 7 pm in the Chatham Park library.
Everyone is invited to attend our monthly HASA meetings – the first Wednesday of every month.  Come and hear from our HASA volunteers, Chatham principal and teachers about all the great events that are happening at our school!  For more information, contact HASA Presidents Megan Salvesen and Maria Purdy.

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHTS

There’s been changes to the Raptor visitor management system.  All licenses need to be scanned again in the main office.
